Dez bewijst nog steeds tot de wereld top te behoren bij de UCI BMX Freestyle World Cup in China!
De afgelopen 10 jaar wist professional BMX Flatland Rider Dez Maarsen zijn titel als nummer 1 rijder van Nederland te verdedigen door mooie prijzen te pakken tijdens de grootste internationale wedstrijden van de BMX sport, en door het winnen van elke nationale competitie.
Begin dit jaar werd hij geteisterd door een blessure, waardoor hij bijna het gehele seizoen er uitlag. Vervolgens werden de twee grote competities, FISE in Hongarije en Flat Ark in Japan, geannuleerd en bleef er nog maar één competitie over: de UCI BMX Freestyle World Cup in Chengdu, China. Na een moeizame kwalificatie op vrijdag 3 november, wist de talentvolle BMX-er in de halve finale en de finale weer zijn draai te vinden. Met zijn unieke combinaties, risicovolle tricks en vloeiende bewegingen bemachtigde hij uiteindelijk de 5e plek en liet hij diverse wereldtoppers achter zich!
De Canadees Jean-William Prevost (32) ging er met de eerste plek vandoor, gevold door de Japanner Moto Sasaki (33) en fransman Matthias Dandois (29). De 29 jarige Haarlemmer aast er nog altijd op om zijn prestatie uit 2015, de 3e plek op de World Cup USA, te verbeteren.
